parque · Icod de los Vinos Parque del Drago is a garden of about three hectares in Icod de los Vinos, laid out between 1997 and 2000 around El Drago Milenario, a dragon tree declared a national monument in 1917 and thought to be 800 to 1,000 years old. Paths through the Caforiño ravine pass native Canary Island plants and lead to a cave that recreates the life of the Guanches.

Teide National Park covers about 19,000 hectares in the centre of Tenerife, around Mount Teide, at 3,715 metres the highest peak in Spain. Declared a national park in 1954 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007, it spans the Las Cañadas caldera, lava fields and rock formations such as the Roques de García. Climbing to the summit requires a permit booked in advance.

Loro Parque is a zoo of about 13.5 hectares on the western edge of Puerto de la Cruz, opened in 1972 by Wolfgang Kiessling as a parrot park with 150 birds. It now keeps some 4,000 parrots of around 350 species and subspecies, along with gorillas, chimpanzees, big cats, sea lions, penguins, dolphins and orcas. Its entrance is a group of Thai-style pavilions.
