edificio histórico · Lindau The Old Town Hall stands on Lindau's Bismarckplatz, built in Gothic style from 1422 to 1436 and given a stepped Renaissance gable in 1576. Its south front carries large 19th-century murals of scenes from Lindau's history, repainted in the 1970s. The council chamber inside hosted a Reichstag in 1496 and is still used for city business, so it stays closed to visitors.

edificio histórico · Lindau The Mangturm is a stocky medieval tower on Lindau's harbour promenade, built around 1200 as part of the town's fortifications. It served as the city's lighthouse into the 19th century, guiding ships until the New Lighthouse took over in 1856. Its glazed-tile spire dates from that century, and a nearby plaque calls it a symbol of the former free imperial city.

Lindau's harbour entrance on Lake Constance is marked by two landmarks completed in 1856: the New Lighthouse, a 33-metre tower on the western mole, and a large stone Bavarian Lion on the eastern mole. The lighthouse replaced the medieval Mangturm as the city's beacon and remains the only lighthouse in Bavaria, with the Alps visible across the water.
