Loro Parque is a zoo of about 13.5 hectares on the western edge of Puerto de la Cruz, opened in 1972 by Wolfgang Kiessling as a parrot park with 150 birds. It now keeps some 4,000 parrots of around 350 species and subspecies, along with gorillas, chimpanzees, big cats, sea lions, penguins, dolphins and orcas. Its entrance is a group of Thai-style pavilions.

The Casa de los Balcones is a three-storey town house in La Orotava, built from 1632 for Juan de Castro Bazo and later owned by the Fonseca family. Carved wooden balconies line its façade and its inner patio. It has housed a workshop and shop for Canarian drawn-thread embroidery since the mid-20th century, and its first floor is furnished as a late 19th-century home.
