
Théâtre antique d'Orange
site historique · OrangeThe Roman Theatre of Orange was built under Augustus for the Roman colony of Arausio. Its stage wall, 103 metres long and 37 metres high, still stands, with a colossal statue 3.5 metres tall in its central niche facing the semicircle of stone seats. Listed by UNESCO in 1981, it hosts the Chorégies d'Orange opera festival every summer.
