Passau Cathedral is the Baroque seat of the Bishop of Passau, rebuilt between 1668 and 1693 under architect Carlo Lurago after fire destroyed its Gothic predecessor in 1662; the Gothic choir survived into the new building. Its organ, among the largest cathedral organs in the world, has roughly 17,800 pipes across several linked instruments.
