    monument · Rimini

The Arch of Augustus is a Roman gate built in 27 BC in honour of the emperor Augustus, marking the end of the Via Flaminia from Rome where it entered Rimini. It is the oldest surviving Roman arch in Italy; the brick battlements on top are medieval, and the adjoining city walls were demolished in the Fascist era, leaving the arch free-standing.
