  • Basílica de Santa Engracia

    The Basilica of Santa Engracia stands where Saint Engratia and the martyrs of Zaragoza are said to have died in 303 AD. The monastery church founded by Ferdinand II was largely destroyed in the sieges of 1808–1809; its Renaissance portal survived and the church was rebuilt behind it. The crypt holds two 4th-century Early Christian sarcophagi.

  • Romeins theater van Caesaraugusta

    Romeins theater van Caesaraugusta

    The Roman Theatre of Caesaraugusta was built in the first half of the 1st century AD, under Tiberius and Claudius, and held about 6,000 spectators. Excavated from 1973, its seating and stage remains are seen from walkways under a translucent canopy, with a museum on Roman theatre and city life in a restored building beside it.

    The Church of San Pablo is a Gothic-Mudéjar church in Zaragoza's El Gancho district, begun around 1284 and enlarged until the 18th century. Its octagonal brick tower dates from 1343, and the main altarpiece of gilded and polychrome wood was carved by Damián Forment. It is part of the Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon World Heritage Site.

  • La Seo del Salvador

    La Seo is Zaragoza's cathedral of the Saviour, built on the site of the Roman forum and of the city's main mosque. It combines Romanesque apses, Gothic naves and a Baroque bell tower, and the outer wall of the Parroquieta chapel is covered in 14th-century Mudéjar brick and glazed tile. A tapestry museum occupies the former chapter rooms.

    Plaza del Pilar is a long pedestrian square in the old town of Zaragoza, stretching beside the Ebro from the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar to La Seo cathedral. Around it stand the city hall, the Fountain of the Hispanidad and a monument to Goya. Many of the city's festivities, including the October Fiestas del Pilar, are held here.

    The Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar is a Baroque church on the Ebro in Zaragoza, begun in 1681 where tradition places an apparition of the Virgin Mary to Saint James. Ventura Rodríguez gave it its present form, with eleven tiled domes and four towers. Inside are the Holy Chapel with the venerated image and dome frescoes by Goya.

  • Puente de Piedra

    The Puente de Piedra is a stone bridge over the Ebro in Zaragoza, built between 1401 and 1440 under Gil de Menestral and repaired after a flood in 1643 destroyed two spans. About 225 metres long, it links the old town by the Basilica del Pilar with the north bank. Four bronze lions by Francisco Rallo Lahoz were placed at its ends in 1991.

  • Aljafería

    The Aljafería is a fortified palace built in the second half of the 11th century for al-Muqtadir, ruler of the Taifa of Zaragoza. Later Aragonese kings and then the Catholic Monarchs added palaces of their own with Mudéjar ceilings. It now houses the Cortes of Aragon, the regional parliament, and is part of a World Heritage Site.

  • Pabellón Puente

    The Bridge Pavilion is a 270-metre covered bridge over the Ebro designed by Zaha Hadid for Expo 2008, when it served as an entrance to the exhibition site. Its shell is clad in about 29,000 triangles of fibre-reinforced concrete. Since 2023 it has housed Mobility City, the Fundación Ibercaja museum on transport and future mobility.

  • Torre del Agua

    The Torre del Agua is a 76-metre tower of glass, steel and concrete built for Expo 2008 on the former exhibition grounds beside the Ebro. Designed by Enrique de Teresa, it has the shape of a water drop in plan and housed the exhibition Water for Life during the Expo. It stands close to the Bridge Pavilion and the Parque del Agua.
