house · MelroseAbbotsford is the country house of the novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott, on the south bank of the River Tweed near Melrose in the Scottish Borders. Scott built it between 1817 and 1825 in the Scottish Baronial style, with small towers, battlements and carved stones from older buildings set into its walls. Visitors see his library, the walled gardens and the estate walks.
