Christopher Columbus House is an 18th-century reconstruction of the house where Columbus lived as a boy, between about 1455 and 1470, on Vico Dritto di Ponticello just outside Porta Soprana. His father Domenico, a wool weaver, had his workshop on the ground floor. The City of Genoa bought the house in 1887 and runs it as a small museum.
