The Church of San Giorgio stands on a headland above Portofino, reached by a path from the harbour square. First recorded in 1154 and rebuilt in 1691 and 1760, it was destroyed by a bomb in the Second World War and rebuilt in 1950 on its 18th-century plan. It keeps relics of Saint George, the village's patron saint.

San Fruttuoso Abbey is a Benedictine abbey in a small bay on the Portofino promontory, reached only by boat or on foot. Most of its buildings date from the 10th to the 13th century; it holds the tombs of the Doria family, and the Torre Doria watchtower was added in 1562. The FAI has owned and restored it since 1983.
