The Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial is an 18-metre stone obelisk on the summit that New Zealand and British troops held from 8 to 10 August 1915, until an Ottoman counter-attack led by Mustafa Kemal retook it. Unveiled in 1925, it stands beside Chunuk Bair Cemetery, whose panels name about 850 New Zealanders with no known grave, near a statue of Atatürk.
