The Prinzipalmarkt is Münster's historic main market street, lined with gabled merchant houses linked by continuous ground-floor arcades. It runs from St. Lambert's Church in the north to the Stadthausturm in the south, with the Historical City Hall midway along its eastern side. Largely destroyed in World War II, it was rebuilt true to the original from 1947 to 1958.

Münster Cathedral, seat of the Catholic Diocese of Münster, stands on a low rise called the Horsteberg in the city centre. The present building, raised between 1225 and 1264, incorporates the twin-towered westwork of its 12th-century predecessor and is dedicated to Saint Paul.

historic building · Münster The Historical City Hall of Münster, at Prinzipalmarkt 10, is a Gothic civic building famed as the venue for the 1648 negotiations of the Peace of Westphalia, which ended the Thirty Years' War. Rebuilt true to its original form after wartime damage, it houses the Friedenssaal, the hall where the peace was signed.

The LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur traces its roots to the Westphalian Art Association, founded in 1831, and moved into its present building in September 2014. The collection ranges from late Gothic painting and sculpture to Cranach-family works and Der Blaue Reiter modernism.

The Swedish Museum of Natural History grew from the collections of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and became a museum in 1819. Its domed brick building in Frescati, designed by Axel Anderberg, was completed in 1916. Exhibitions cover animals, plants, fossils, minerals and human evolution, and the Cosmonova dome cinema, added in 1993, is Sweden's largest planetarium.

Schloss Münster was built between 1767 and 1787 as the Baroque residence of the prince-bishops of Münster, designed by architect Johann Conrad Schlaun from local Baumberger sandstone. Since 1954 it has served as the seat of the University of Münster; visitors can walk the surrounding Schlossgarten park, though the building itself is not open for public tours.

Pillnitz Palace is a Baroque summer residence of the Saxon electors and kings on the right bank of the Elbe east of Dresden. It comprises the riverside Wasserpalais, the hillside Bergpalais and the later Neues Palais, set around a garden, and today houses the Dresden State Art Collections' decorative arts museum.

Millesgården is the former home and studio of the sculptor Carl Milles and the artist Olga Milles on Lidingö, given to the Swedish people as a foundation in 1936. Terraces above the water hold casts of Milles's sculptures, the house shows the couple's rooms and collections, and an art hall designed by Johan Celsing in 1999 holds exhibitions.

The Aasee is an artificial lake in central Münster, built in stages between 1914 and 1934 and expanded between 1972 and 1976 to nearly double its size. A roughly 5.7-kilometre path circles the water, passing sailing clubs, boat rentals and the Allwetterzoo on its western bank.

Münster Zoo, known locally as the Allwetterzoo, opened at its current site by the Aasee in 1974, replacing an older zoo founded in 1875. Spread across 30 hectares, it keeps several thousand animals from hundreds of species and takes part in international breeding programmes.

tourist attraction · Stavanger Preikestolen is a cliff rising 604 metres above the Lysefjord, about 26 km east of Stavanger in Strand Municipality, with a nearly flat top of about 25 by 25 metres. It is reached on a marked trail of about 4 km each way from Preikestolen Fjellstue, a round trip of 3–4 hours, and can also be seen from below on boat trips through the Lysefjord.

Skokloster Castle is a Baroque castle on a peninsula of Lake Mälaren, built between 1654 and 1676 for the field marshal Carl Gustaf Wrangel. Owned by the state since 1967, it shows furnished rooms with paintings, textiles, arms and books, and the Unfinished Hall, left with its builders' tools as it was when work stopped in 1676.

Vaxholm Fortress covers the islet of Vaxholmen in the Stockholm archipelago, off the town of Vaxholm about 17 km north-east of Stockholm, and is reached by a short ferry. Gustav Vasa first fortified the strait in 1548; most of the present stone fortress dates from 1833–1863. It houses the Vaxholm Fortress Museum on 500 years of coastal defence.

tourist attraction · Hřensko Pravčická brána is a natural sandstone arch about 3 km northeast of Hřensko, with a span of 26.5 m and an inside height of 16 m, the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe. It is a national nature monument; visitors see it from terraces beside the Falcon's Nest, a lodge built in 1881 by Prince Edmund Clary-Aldringen.

tourist attraction · Hřensko Edmund's Gorge is a narrow canyon of the Kamenice river near Hřensko, where sandstone cliffs 50 to 90 m high rise straight from the water. A trail opened in the late 19th century by Prince Edmund Clary-Aldringen leads through it, and where there is no path, boatmen pole visitors downstream in flat-bottomed boats.

Bohemian Switzerland National Park protects the Czech part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains on the right bank of the Elbe around Hřensko, on the German border. Founded in 2000 and adjoining Germany's Saxon Switzerland National Park, it has sandstone walls, rock towers and deep gorges crossed by marked trails, including the paths to Pravčická brána.

Stavanger Cathedral is Norway's oldest cathedral, begun around 1100 and dedicated to Saint Swithun of Winchester. The Romanesque stone nave has carved capitals with scenes from Norse myth, and the Gothic choir with its two east towers was added after a fire in 1272. It stands beside the Breiavatnet lake in the city centre and is the seat of the Bishop of Stavanger.
