The Hospices de Beaune, or Hôtel-Dieu, is a former hospital for the poor founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, chancellor of the Duke of Burgundy, and his wife Guigone de Salins. It took in patients until the early 1970s and is now a museum; visitors see the glazed tile roofs of the courtyard, the great ward and Rogier van der Weyden's Last Judgement.
