Australia for visitors
Australia is a continent-sized country whose visitors mostly start in the coastal cities, from Sydney and Melbourne to Brisbane and Perth. Sydney has the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and Taronga Zoo across the harbour; Melbourne has the National Gallery of Victoria, the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Brisbane and the Gold Coast, an hour apart, add koala sanctuaries and theme parks, and Cairns is the base for the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforest at Kuranda. Perth and Adelaide lie far to the west and south. Distances are long, so travel between cities is usually by air.
