About Seoul
Seoul is South Korea's capital on the Han River, with Joseon royal palaces and shrines among modern towers, markets and museums. Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung with its Secret Garden, Changgyeonggung and Deoksugung are the palaces of the Joseon kings, and Jongmyo is their ancestral shrine. The National Museum of Korea and the War Memorial lie in Yongsan, and Insa-dong and Gwangjang Market are close to the palaces. N Seoul Tower stands on Namsan, and Lotte World Tower and the Lotte World park are in Jamsil. Suwon's Hwaseong Fortress, Everland and the Korean Folk Village are day trips to the south. The metro reaches nearly every sight.
