Japan joins temples, shrines and castles to modern cities; Vizgu covers Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima, Yokohama, Nikkō and Hakone. Tokyo has Sensō-ji in Asakusa, Meiji Jingu, the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno Park and towers with views over the city, the Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo Tower among them. Kyoto keeps hundreds of temples and shrines, from Fushimi Inari-taisha to Kinkaku-ji and Kiyomizu-dera, and Nara's deer park surrounds Tōdai-ji. Osaka has its castle and the food streets of Dōtonbori. Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park recalls the atomic bombing of 1945, and the ferry to Miyajima reaches Itsukushima Shrine. Nikkō's shrines and Hakone's lake and hot springs are day trips from Tokyo. Shinkansen trains link the main cities in a few hours. The country uses the yen, many temples and smaller shops take cash only, and tipping is not expected.
