About Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is a beach town on the Riviera Maya, about 65 km south of Cancún, with ferries to the island of Cozumel. Quinta Avenida, the pedestrian street, runs parallel to the beach from Parque Los Fundadores and its bronze Portal Maya. South of town, the Xcaret group's parks spread through the forest: Xcaret with its Maya ruins and evening show, Xplor with zip lines and underground rivers, and Xenses. Río Secreto is a cave river visited in wetsuits, and the cenotes Azul and Cristalino lie beside the highway towards Tulum.
