About Sharjah

Sharjah, the third-largest city of the United Arab Emirates, borders Dubai to the north-east and is known for its museums and restored old town. In the Heart of Sharjah, coral-stone houses and Souq Al Arsah surround Al Hisn, the fort rebuilt in the 1990s on its original plan. The Sharjah Museums Authority runs the Museum of Islamic Civilization, the Art Museum, the Archaeology Museum, the Maritime Museum and the Aquarium. Al Noor Mosque and the Central Souq with its blue tiles stand on Khalid Lagoon, next to Al Noor Island and the canal of Al Qasba. The Rain Room and Arabia's Wildlife Centre lie further out.
