About Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung is Taiwan's main port city in the south-west, with harbour-side art districts, temples on the Lotus Pond and the Fo Guang Shan monastery. The Pier-2 Art Center fills old harbour warehouses, and the Kaohsiung Music Center and the former British Consulate at Takow look over the port and its entrance. Ferries cross to Cijin island with its fort and seafood street. In Zuoying the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas stand on the Lotus Pond, and Weiwuying, the national arts centre, occupies a former army base. The Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum lies in the hills of Dashu, and Liuhe Night Market is in the city centre near Formosa Boulevard station.
