About Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City, still widely called Saigon, is Vietnam's largest city, with French colonial buildings in District 1 and Chinese temples in Chợ Lớn. The Saigon Central Post Office, the City Hall and the Opera House stand within a few streets of Nguyễn Huệ Boulevard and Bến Thành Market. The Independence Palace and the War Remnants Museum tell the story of the war, and the Museum of Ho Chi Minh City fills the former Gia Long Palace. The Jade Emperor Pagoda and the Thiên Hậu Temple are older places of worship, and Landmark 81 and the Saigon Skydeck have views over the river. Two or three days cover it.
