About Taipei
Taipei is Taiwan's capital, with the National Palace Museum, temples, night markets and Taipei 101, and hot springs and old towns a metro ride away. The National Palace Museum in Shilin holds the imperial Chinese collection, and the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Longshan Temple and the Presidential Office Building stand in the old centre. Taipei 101 has an observatory on its 89th floor, with Elephant Mountain's trail beside it. Shilin and Raohe are the night markets, Dihua Street the old trading street. The metro reaches the hot springs of Beitou and the river port of Tamsui, and buses run to Jiufen, Shifen and Yehliu on the north coast.
