About Melbourne
Melbourne is a city of laneways, museums and sport on the Yarra River, with gardens and stadiums close to the centre. Federation Square faces Flinders Street Station, and the National Gallery of Victoria and the Royal Botanic Gardens lie just south across the river. The Royal Exhibition Building and Melbourne Museum share the Carlton Gardens, and the Queen Victoria Market and the Old Melbourne Gaol are at the northern edge of the centre.
