About Auckland
Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, lies on a narrow isthmus between two harbours, among some fifty small volcanic cones. The Sky Tower rises over the city centre, and the Viaduct Harbour and the Maritime Museum lie on the waterfront below it. The Auckland War Memorial Museum stands on the old crater of the Domain, near the Auckland Art Gallery and two cathedrals. Maungawhau / Mount Eden and One Tree Hill in Cornwall Park look over the suburbs, ferries cross to Rangitoto Island, and Kelly Tarlton's aquarium sits on Tamaki Drive. Piha Beach lies on the west coast, beyond the Waitākere Ranges.
