About Guadalajara
Guadalajara is the capital of Jalisco and Mexico's second-largest metropolitan area, home of mariachi music and tequila. The historic centre is laid out around the cathedral and four squares, with the Government Palace and its Orozco mural, the Teatro Degollado and the Regional Museum. To the east, the Hospicio Cabañas holds Orozco's murals under its dome, beside the San Juan de Dios Market. The neo-Gothic Templo Expiatorio, the Arcos de Guadalajara and the Panteón de Belén cemetery are within the city; the zoo lies by the Huentitán canyon and the Basilica of Zapopan to the north-west.
