San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

Gaztelugatxe is a rocky islet off the coast of Bermeo, joined to the mainland by a two-arched bridge and topped by the hermitage of San Juan, recorded since the 11th century. A path and a stairway of 241 steps climb to the chapel, last rebuilt after a fire in 1978. The islet lies in a protected natural monument on the Bay of Biscay.
