The Basilica of Sant Feliu was Girona's main church before the cathedral was built and was raised between the 12th and 17th centuries over the tomb of the martyr Felix. It combines a Romanesque east end, a Gothic nave and truncated Gothic bell tower and a Baroque façade, and holds eight Roman and early Christian sarcophagi and the Gothic tomb of Saint Narcissus.

Girona Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Mary, stands at the top of a long Baroque stairway above the old town. Begun in the 11th century, it keeps a 12th-century Romanesque cloister and the Charlemagne Tower, while its Gothic interior is a single nave about 23 metres wide; the treasury holds the 11th–12th-century Tapestry of Creation.
