Desert View Watchtower

The Desert View Watchtower is a stone tower 21 metres tall at the eastern end of the South Rim, about 40 km east of Grand Canyon Village. Mary Colter designed it in 1932 after ancestral Puebloan towers; murals by the Hopi artist Fred Kabotie decorate the inside, and the upper floors look over the canyon, the Colorado River and the Painted Desert.
