Lake Louise is a glacial lake in Banff National Park, 5 km west of the village of Lake Louise, named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, a daughter of Queen Victoria. Rock flour in meltwater from the glaciers above gives the water its turquoise colour. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise stands on the eastern shore, and trails lead along the lake and up to Lake Agnes.

Moraine Lake is a glacier-fed lake in the Valley of the Ten Peaks in Banff National Park, 14 km from the village of Lake Louise, at an elevation of about 1,884 metres. Fed almost entirely by snowmelt and glacial meltwater, it fills by mid to late June, when rock flour gives the water its blue colour. The lake covers 50 hectares and has never been dammed.
