    Westminster Abbey is a Gothic church in Westminster, begun in 1245 under Henry III on the site of Edward the Confessor's abbey. It has been the coronation church since 1066 and holds the tombs of 18 monarchs and more than 3,300 burials in all. Visitors see the Henry VII Lady Chapel, Poets' Corner and the cloisters.

  • Temple Church

    Temple Church

    Temple Church was built by the Knights Templar as their English headquarters and consecrated in 1185. Its round nave, modelled on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, holds 13th-century stone effigies of knights, and the rectangular chancel was added in 1240. It belongs today to the Inner and Middle Temple Inns of Court.

    Westminster Cathedral is the cathedral of the Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster and the seat of its archbishop. Designed by John Francis Bentley in a neo-Byzantine style and built of striped brick and stone in 1895–1903, it has chapels lined with mosaics and marble, Eric Gill's Stations of the Cross and a bell tower with a viewing gallery.

    St Paul's Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral of the Diocese of London on Ludgate Hill, rebuilt to designs by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London and completed in 1710. Visitors walk the nave beneath its 111-metre dome, can climb to the dome galleries, and see the crypt with the tombs of Nelson, Wellington and Wren.

    Southwark Cathedral stands by the southern end of London Bridge on a site of Christian worship for more than a thousand years. The Gothic church, built between 1220 and 1420 for an Augustinian priory and given a new nave in the late 19th century, became the cathedral of the Diocese of Southwark in 1905.
