About Memphis

Memphis is a city on the Mississippi in Tennessee, known for the blues, soul and rock and roll, and for Graceland. Beale Street's blues clubs lie downtown near the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum and the Blues Hall of Fame. Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and B. B. King made early records at Sun Studio, and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music stands on the site of Stax Records. The National Civil Rights Museum is built around the former Lorraine Motel. Overton Park in Midtown holds the Memphis Zoo and the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, and Graceland, Elvis Presley's home, lies south in Whitehaven.
