The Mercator is a three-masted barquentine built in Leith, Scotland, and launched in 1932 as the training ship of the Belgian merchant navy. In 1936 it carried the remains of Father Damien home to Belgium. It is now a museum ship moored in Ostend's marina between the station and the city hall, where visitors walk its decks, cabins and crew quarters.
