Montezuma Castle
Montezuma Castle is a five-storey cliff dwelling of about 20 rooms, built by the Sinagua people in a limestone recess some 27 metres above Beaver Creek, in Camp Verde about 28 km south of Sedona. It was occupied from around 1100 to 1425; settlers later named it, wrongly, after the Aztec ruler. Protected as a national monument since 1906, it is seen from a paved loop trail.
