Convent of the Capuchos
religious building · SintraThe Convent of the Capuchos is a small Franciscan convent in the woods of the Sintra hills, founded in 1560 by Álvaro de Castro. Its cramped cells, chapels, refectory and kitchen are built among granite boulders and lined with cork, which earned it the name Convent of Cork; friars lived here until religious orders were abolished in 1834.
