Adelaide Gaol

Adelaide Gaol, in the Park Lands west of the city centre, was the first permanent prison in South Australia and held inmates from 1841 until 1988. Its stone buildings are among the oldest standing in the state. The former gaol is now a museum, with self-guided and guided tours through the cell blocks, yards and towers of the complex.
