The National Wine Centre of Australia opened in 2001 at the eastern end of North Terrace, beside the Adelaide Botanic Garden. Its timber-and-steel building by Cox Grieve Gillett recalls the curve of a wine barrel. Inside are an exhibition on Australian winemaking and a tasting area, and rows of grapevines of several varieties grow outside.
