Caminito del Rey

The Caminito del Rey is a walkway fixed to the walls of the Gaitanes gorge, built from 1901 to 1905 for workers of the El Chorro hydroelectric scheme and named after Alfonso XIII, who crossed it in 1921. Rebuilt and reopened in 2015, the one-way route runs about 8 km from Ardales to El Chorro in Álora, partly on boardwalks some 100 m above the river.
