Temple of Kom Ombo

A double temple on the Nile in the town of Kom Ombo, about 40 km north of Aswan, built in the Ptolemaic period with Roman additions. Its two parallel axes lead to two sanctuaries, one for the crocodile god Sobek and one for the falcon god Haroeris; the walls carry a temple calendar and a relief believed to show surgical instruments.
