Nubian Museum

The Nubian Museum in Aswan opened in 1997 after the UNESCO campaign to save the monuments of Nubia from the waters of Lake Nasser. Designed by Mahmoud El-Hakim and clad in sandstone and pink granite, it traces Nubian history from prehistory to today; its garden holds a reconstructed Nubian house and a cave with prehistoric rock carvings.
