Castle of Avio
The Castle of Avio, also called Sabbionara Castle, is a medieval fortress on a spur of Monte Vignola above the Adige valley, first recorded in 1053 and held for centuries by the Castelbarco family. Three rings of walls with five towers enclose the keep, whose Chamber of Love has courtly frescoes from about 1340; FAI has opened it to visitors since 1978.
