Acropolis of Pergamon

The Acropolis of Pergamon crowns a 335-metre hill above Bergama and was the upper city of the Attalid kings from the 3rd century BC. Visitors walk among the marble Temple of Trajan, the steep Hellenistic theatre cut into the slope and the foundations of the Pergamon Altar, whose frieze is in Berlin; a cable car climbs from the lower town.
