Cave Church

The Cave Church is the main church of the Monastery of Saint Simon the Tanner, carved into the Mokattam cliffs above the Manshiyat Naser district of eastern Cairo from the 1970s onwards. Its amphitheatre-like nave in a natural cave seats about 20,000 people, and the surrounding rock faces carry large carved reliefs of biblical scenes.
