Memphis Open-Air Museum
The Memphis Open-Air Museum lies in the village of Mit Rahina, about 22 km south of central Cairo, among the ruins of Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt. Its covered hall holds a colossal limestone statue of Ramesses II lying on its back; the garden displays an alabaster sphinx, a standing granite statue of Ramesses II, stelae and sarcophagi found at the site.
