Pyramids of Giza
The Giza plateau, on the edge of the Western Desert about 13 km south-west of central Cairo, holds the pyramids of the kings Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, built in the Fourth Dynasty around 2600–2500 BC. Around them lie smaller queens' pyramids, temples, causeways and the tombs of officials.
