Troy

Troy is the archaeological site of Hisarlık at Tevfikiye, about 25 km south-west of Çanakkale. Nine settlement layers span from about 3000 BC to the Roman period. Excavated from 1871 by Heinrich Schliemann and later by Dörpfeld and Blegen, it shows city walls, gates, house foundations and a Roman odeon along a marked path, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.
