Castellana Caves
The Castellana Caves are a limestone cave system in the Murge plateau of Apulia, explored from 1938 by the speleologist Franco Anelli. Guided tours begin in La Grave, a chamber about 60 m deep lit through a natural opening in its roof, and follow either a 1 km route or a 3 km route that ends in the Grotta Bianca, lined with white calcite.
