Cluny Abbey
Cluny Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery founded in 910 by Duke William I of Aquitaine, which headed a network of monasteries across Western Europe. Its third church, begun in 1088, was Europe's largest until the 16th century. Most of it was pulled down after the Revolution; visitors see the south transept, the 18th-century monastic buildings and a museum.
