Château de Cognac

The Château de Cognac is a castle on the bank of the Charente in Cognac, rebuilt from 1450 by the Counts of Angoulême and enlarged around 1517 by Francis I, who was born in Cognac in 1494. Since 1795 it has housed the cellars of the Otard cognac house; guided tours lead from the medieval and Renaissance rooms to the ageing cellars.
