Kilitbahir Castle

Kilitbahir Castle on the European shore of the Dardanelles was built for Sultan Mehmed II around 1463, opposite the castle of Çanakkale, to control the strait at its narrowest point. Its seven-storey inner tower on a triangular plan, the Yellow Tower added under Suleiman I in 1541 and the walls now form a museum of Ottoman castle life.
