The Basilica of St Willibrord is the church of Echternach Abbey, founded by the missionary Willibrord in 698. The Romanesque church consecrated in 1031 was blown up in December 1944 and rebuilt in its original style, being reconsecrated in 1953. Its Carolingian crypt holds Willibrord's tomb, the goal of the dancing procession held every Whit Tuesday.
