Hengifoss

Hengifoss is a 128 m waterfall on the Hengifossá river in Fljótsdalur, East Iceland. It drops from a basalt cliff striped with thin red layers of clay, which also hold fossilised tree trunks and lignite from a warmer period. A path climbs from the car park to the falls in 40 to 60 minutes, passing Litlanesfoss and its basalt columns.
